Kim's Birthday on February 3rd
I wish I was better at keeping up with this blog!! I apologize to everyone!!
Well, my birthday was awesome. Hated getting a year older but we all have to do it! Ted planned for us to take a boat ride over to the zoo. The original zoo is on an island and the only way to it is by boat but now they have connected it to land where they can house more animals. I have been serving in this area for over 13 years now and this was my first boat ride on the lake. It was so beautiful the lake was calm and the sun was warm.
We arrived at the zoo. It's really pretty sad, but what can you really expect for a third world country. While we were on the island Ted found a friend. It's a wild pig but he was really friendly.

We continued on over this crazy old swing bridge that stretched over the lake connecting the small zoo to the main land. I didn't care much for the bridge. On the main land they had all kinds of different animals.
Then we got a surprise! A momma spider monkey with a baby on her back was loose from her cage and she found us!! She was so sweet! The only problem was she wanted to climb me. I was a little freaked out at first. Then she just companied us through the rest of the zoo.

After the zoo we took another boat ride to Mayan ruins that you can only get to by boat. I had never heard of this ruin. We were told it is as high as the Jaguar Temple in Tikal. We jumped at the opportunity to go exploring. Our boat driver told us that in the near future the government is making plans to uncover this site.
I just love this picture... I call it stairway to heaven!
But that wasn't all the stairs the next photo... Yes, more stairs!! That is the island of Flores in the back ground!! I couldn't believe the view from up there!
We ended the day at La Luna for a nice dinner complete with chocolate cake and coffee!
I had a blessed day!!

Great pictures! I love the way you put the writing in with the pictures. I have not figured out how to do that on our blog. Enjoyed reading about your special day. The zoo sounds like an interesting place.
Great picture of you and Ted at the top of the stairway to heaven.
